Young Bruce Wayne makes his way to DVD with the animated series The Batman in this release from Warner Brothers Home Entertainment. This new series is sadly relegated to the same kind of "best-of" single discs that the old Batman: The Animated Series got wrapped up in before the company finally delivered the seasonal sets that were long in demand by the fans. Still, this collection of three episodes might be a good way for newcomers to enjoy this fun incarnation of the character without them having to drop a lot of loot on an expensive set that they're not sure of. That said, this set is most definitely aimed straight for the kiddies, as witnessed by the extra features, which boasts a Batman junior detective trivia challenge and a visit to the Mattel headquarters, where an animated Detective Ellen Vin investigates the identity of The Batman by interviewing toy designers. On the upside, the show looks and sounds terrific and should hopefully help to build a solid fan base for this exceptional series. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
