Filmmaker Michael Apted returns to the director's chair to catch up with the subjects he has been following since the 1963 telefilm 7 Up with this sequel to 1999's 42 Up. In the seventh installment of the long-running documentary series, Apted continues to follow the lives of everyone from aspiring jockey and part-time actor Tony to teacher Bruce and barrister John -- who returns to the series following a self-imposed exile that preceded 42 Up. While many of Apted's subjects seem to have settled into a comfortable existence, sharp-tongued Jackie and once-troubled Neil inject a bit of liveliness into the mix by recalling their colorful pasts and questioning the director's motivations with the Up series. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

It's amazing how engrossing this film is. Really well done. There are insights to be had for people of all ages. Seeing each person's progression from youth to adulthood and into middle age you can't help rooting for all of them... even the ones you didn't think you would like. The director's thoughts on it (included in the DVD) are also very interesting.

This is my favorite "up" movie so far. Still a few surprises in store. If you haven't seen the others, you'll need to watch those first. As a warning, 7 and 14 up are a little boring, but once you make it past that, the rest are fascinating. Love this series!

what a cooool concept this entire series is. I recommend it highly. With a little imagination, it gives us an insightful viewing into our own futures. It is an incontestable demonstration of the importance of the parental influence on kids...that flows well into adulthood. I wish this group were older, or I was younger, just so the insight would be greater to me personally. Show it to teens, show it to new parents...gives them great food for thought. I hope the series continues and that all the people participate in the future.
