Three men come face to face with their concerns about war when they're drafted in this independent drama set in the near future. As the United States becomes more deeply mired in wars around the world and the threat of major terrorist attacks looms large, the federal government decides to reinstate conscription, and three friends face conflicting emotions as they wait out their last few days before entering the Army under the new draft. George Rifkin (Chris Klein) is a lawyer who has been helping his wife, Molly (Ginnifer Goodwin), get through her recent cancer treatment; he would prefer to stay home with her as she recovers, but despite his legal know-how he can't find a loophole out of his current dilemma. Aaron Feller (Elijah Wood) is a slight and sensitive writer who doesn't feel physically or emotionally prepared to serve in the military, despite his sense of moral obligation, and he turns to a therapist, Dr. Reynolds (Ally Sheedy), to help him cope. And James Dixon (Jon Bernthal) is a cabbie who feels reasonably strong and confident about his future as a soldier until he meets Patricia (Elizabeth Moss), a college student who challenges his beliefs and assumptions about the war and each man's place in it. Day Zero was the first feature film from veteran editor Bryan Gunnar Cole, and received its world premiere at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Movie starts off with a great idea. Pretend the draft came back and show three buddies from new york get their draft notices in the mail and have 30 days to report. Then show all three lives in this 30 day period-- on film. It is a good idea. But the film blunders in showing this. First off it moves at a snails pace.Second the movie moves at a snails pace. Did I mention the SLOWNESS of the picture yet?Anyway you lose track of whats going on it moves so painstakingingly slowly without any deliberate dramatic scenes to keep your interest. The characters are semi -interesting personalies but they do nothing to keep your interest. This is a movie with good idea-just POOR EXECUTION. The acting is just so-so along with a poor script... And the ending is SO BAD that you wonder whether they just ran out of money to film a proper justified ending? Uh, I just CAN NOT recommend this movie as a "must see" at all.

This movie was very insightful into the lives of three totally different characters who just happens to be good friends. It's quite a scary feeling knowing that you are going off to war, because the government has reinstated the draft. The ways that these boys handle the news in their own way was very interesting. We would highly recommend this movie to the twenty-something crowd and their parents, especially in these days that we are living in....The ending of this movie had really surprised us. I hope this helps....

This movie was not at all what I expected. It moved very slow and most scenes were repetitious. It is about 3 guys getting drafted, but they never actually leave. I would not recommend this movie if you are looking for action.
