Holy Hip Hop (2005)

Holy Hip Hop (2005)
Member Rating:
For those who thought hip-hop was nothing more than rampant materialism, blatant sexism, and flippant foul language, prepare to be surprised as director and producer Christopher Martin showcases some of the most holy hip-hop acts in contemporary music. The lyrics are just as tight and the beats just as strong, and when these righteous rappers take the microphone your head is sure to start bobbing. This is truly the cutting edge of hip-hop, so when the chronic has dried up and the bling stops shining, follow innovative producer Martin and friends as they showcase a series of performers who see that there is more to life than money and women. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I'M GLAD IT PROMOTED "CHRISTIAN RAP MUSIC" I'M GLAD THERE IS "CHRISTIAN RAP MUSIC" ITS NOT RATHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, ITS ABOUT THE MESSAGE IN THE MUSIC, CHRISTIAN COUNTRY, CHRISTIAN ROCK, SOUTHERN GOSPEL, ETC...I HOPE THAT PEOPLE DO NOT HOLD A GRUDGE AGAINST ANY CHRISTIAN MUSIC, CAUSE I THINK THAT IS CONSIDER "HATE" AND ALSO A SIN IN YOUR LIFE. AND FOR THAT YOU WILL NOT MAKE IT TO HEAVEN. I'M NOT SAYING YOU GOTTA LIKE IT, I'M SAYING THAT YOU MUST RESPECT ALL CHRISTIAN MUSIC, TO BE A CHRISTIAN, YOU HAVE TO DO THIS, IF YA DON'T THEN MY FRIEND YOU WON'T MAKE IT TO HEAVEN. CAUSE YOU CAN NOT BE AGAINST SOMETHING, WHEN YOUR STANDING FOR IT! AND THATS CHRIST

I rented this movie because I wanted to know more about how hip hop is being used to support the Glory of God. While all of those interviewed seem to be very dedicated to this end, I would have like to have seen more of the music and less of the talk. I was more like a long info-mercial. All and all, I appreciate that as Christians, we should be seeking all forms of communication as a means of reaching out to everyone. Hip Hop certainly reaches a population not often seen in the typical church service. If you want to keep informed about different kinds of music in ministry, you can get all you need to know about Christian hip hop in the first 30 minutes of this movie.

I was actually in this movie! I went to the Holy Hip Hop conference where this was filmed in Atlanta. It was a great experience and it was awesome to see so many young people giving God his glory. A must see for all teens and parents.
