Will watch again! This movie is a love story set in a desolate future with amazing backdrops and nice action sequences. The effects, shooting style, and backdrops were AMAZING! I was more blown away by that in this movie than most American movies of this nature. FYI, the pace slows wayyy down at times to immerse you into the characters’ emotions. The ending is bloody, but shouldn't you be bloody after a fight? rant: It’s ONLY similar to bladrunner in that the cyborgs have expiration dates and you have a cop/MP that hunts cyborgs. The MP in this movie is NOT a cyborg and the emphasis is NOT on a cyborg wanting to live. Some scenes have the MP around asian food stands like in bladerunner, but it's an asian movie- should he eat french food? and there are huge neon ads on the buildings like in bladerunner, but again, this is an asian movie- have you folks been to asia? there are similarities, but take this movie on its own and watch it for what it is, a korean love story.

The spirit (if not the soul) of "Blade Runner" hangs so heavily over NATURAL CITY that this South Korean sci-fi/romance never takes off on its own. Filled with interesting--if derivative--visuals, a great looking cast and enough plot for a couple of movies, director Byung Chun-min finally seems most interested in slo-mo action sequences and bloodletting (the finale fight goes on WAY too long) rather than anything perceptive or deep about the characters. They're all "types"--from the cute little boy to the good/bad MP to the various females (cyborg, worker-in-love-with-boss, prostie with a heart of brass). While there are a number of good scenes and moments, the movie finally never quite jells. There's enough here to keep sci-fi/action fans glued, I guess, but if you demand a bit more, you'll be taking your chances with this one.
