I enjoyed this movie about Philippine society, family togetherness and caring and the affection that developed for Maximo by the honest policeman. I wish that the timeline for Maximo's growth would have been excellerated but it is still an enhoyable movie. I would definitely recommend it.

Very moving film about struggles in a poor community in the Phillipines. Not really a typical gay movie, although you certainly feel for Maxi and his predicament.

Worth watching. The movie is endearing and gay or straight most of us can relate to Maximo as he traverses that painful first love. To see a boy who would be ridiculed mercilessly in most parts of the United States, find comfort in his own skin and acceptance among most members of his family and community in this developing country might be startling to most of viewers. Maximo offers hope for our own capacity to grow and find a place in which to belong.
