KZ (2005)
Member Rating:
In an era generations removed from the horrors of the Holocaust, filmmaker Rex Bloomstein attempts to transcend the apathy brought forth by media overload by focusing his lens on a scenic Austrian town on the banks of the Danube where one of the most notorious concentration camps of World War II was once located. In addition to offering first-hand accounts of the atrocities committed at Mauthausen by speaking with ageing inhabitants of the town, Bloomstein also speaks with newcomers to find out just drew them to the idyllic town with a decidedly dark history. In turning his lens towards tourists as unflinching tour guides offer detailed accounts Mauthausen's tragic past, Bloomstein is able to show how the thousands who lost their lives at the notorious death camp are able to let their sorrows be heard through the voices of those who dedicate their lives to ensuring that the public never forget the town's troubling past. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
