A mysterious stranger with a magic touch descends upon the small town of Antioch and the town is slowly divided by his seemingly supernatural presence in director Robby Henson's adaptation of Frank Peretti's best-selling novel. Despite the fact that he may have the power to heal, the charismatic stranger nevertheless radiates a strange aura of menace and malevolence. Some believe him to be the one true messiah, and others dismiss him as a false prophet sent to seduce the souls of the weak. When the events in the stranger's remote revival tent take a turn for the sinister, it's up to a fallen ex-minister to re-connect with his faith and reveal the suspicious stranger for what he really is. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I was skeptical about renting this movie because there were no real actors that I could cling to... although I did recognize some people. Randy Travis did not do a bad job. As a matter of fact, he did pretty well.--- This movie was thought provoking, at best, and even though it was not scary, it was filled with supernatural activity.--- I give it 4 stars because it is a low budget movie that ran for more than 100 minutes and I was able to watch all of it without reservation... to say the least.

I was pleasant surprised by this movie. The religion part of it was not force down your throat which I appreciate. The story line and directing was entertaining. The characters were interesting. I would say this is a good rental.

I am always glad to see a Christian movie hit the movie rack. This movie is one of the more thrilling of the bunch. Although not much of an actor, it is always good to see Randy Travis. Other performances are fairly well done. The story is a little too weird, but it is Peretti, not the movie producer, who came up with this stuff. I preferred Hangman's Curse, both as a movie and as a novel.
