Leonard Cohen is widely regarded as one of the finest and most influential poets and songwriters of his generation, a writer whose artful mélange of love, eros, and despair has earned him a passionate international following and the respect and admiration of artists ranging from R.E.M. to Johnny Cash. In 2005, music producer Hal Wilner staged an all-star tribute concert in Australia in which a handful of major artists offered their interpretations of Cohen's songs, including Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, Rufus Wainwright, Beth Orton, Kate and Anna Mcgarrigle, and many more. Leonard Cohen I'm Your Man includes highlights from this concert and thoughts on Cohen and his work from the participants as well as an extensive interview with Leonard Cohen himself as he talks in detail about his life and his art. The film also includes a special performance of "Tower of Song," in which Cohen is accompanied by U2. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

This movie provides a retrospective of Leonard Cohen's work and life through a series of peformances, some by artists I was not familiar with. So a perk is being introduced to some beautiful musical "artists" (as opposed to performers). The biography aspect of this DVD is from Mr Cohen's "lens", but still provides interesting info about his formation as an artist & the influences of his better known works. Overall, if you are a fan, and would like a breathtaking & soulful concert , this would be a great DVD choice.

This is must see if you love movies about legends such as Leonard Cohen. The performances of Leonard Cohen's music by Canadian performers was new to me and I enjoyed everyone immensely. Comments from Bono and U2 were inciteful, beautiful and spiritual. Leonard Cohen is a rare poet of our time. Again, if you are a Leonard Cohen fan, it is a must see! Sarah D.

The film started a bit slowly, but by the end I was so moved by the beauty of the man and his music as well as by the performances of musicians I generally don't have the opportunity to see. A fine tribute to Leonard Cohen, whose music I have always loved.
