What is this about "not bad"? It's bad! For those who's familiar with it. They basically took a long Chinese soap (40+ hours) and chopped it up and make a 2 hr. movie out of it. The movie was shot with what basically is a camcorder. You know "soap quality". Then it suddenly ends! Very disappointed. Bad attempts like these try to make a few bucks but ruin the Asian films credibility in the process. Move on folks...

"Book and Sword" is a popular martial art novel written by Louis Cha. It has been translated into several languages. The novel was quite long and it involved many characters. Over the years several TV series were made in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mainland China. This DVD was the "highlights" from the 2002 version TV series produced in China. They kept all the major fighting scenes and removed anything else as much as possible. For those who are not familiar with the story, the fightings are non-stop and one wouldn't know what is going on. For those who have read the story, the character and story development will be missed. I am sure the TV series wouldn't be too bad.

真不好!This movie was pieced together from a Chinese TV series. It is so disconnected that if you have not read the book, you will be lost beyond belief. Even after reading it, the jumps were so vast that it left me feeling like it was a waste of time. As far as it being shot with a camcorder... There are a lot of Chinese films shot in that style. It actually resembles real life more than our glowing western cinema. Look outside. Its not glowing. So stop complaining about that.
