In a 1950s-era alternate universe where domesticated zombies play a functional role in society by delivering the milk, carrying the mail, and even helping out with household chores, one boy is about to find out just how big of a personal responsibility "pet" ownership truly is. When the Earth passed through a cloud of space dust and the dead arose from their graves to devour the flesh of the living, it first seemed that all hope for humanity was lost. Society's rapid slide into chaos, however, was soon halted when scientists at a company called ZomCom created a special collar that turned the rampaging animated corpses docile. Now, thanks to ZomCom, everything is under control -- or is it? Timmy Robinson (K'Sun Ray) isn't quite convinced. Quiet and withdrawn, the skeptical young boy spends so much time locked away in his room that he's almost become invisible around the household. His mother Helen (Carrie-Anne Moss) has recently purchased a zombie to help keep things tidy around the house though, and when the creature attempts to engage the curious youngster in a game of catch, a friendship is forged between boy and zombie that finds the amiable gut-muncher nicknamed Fido (Billy Connolly) practically becoming a part of the family. Things take a turn for the worse however, when Fido's collar malfunctions and Timmy's neighbors begin dying in droves. When ZomCom's top zombie control specialist Mr. Bottoms (Henry Czerny) moves in across the street from Timmy, the increasingly complicated situation threatens to place a serious stumbling block in the path of human-zombie relations. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The absolute BEST Zombie satire made to date. There are sooooooo many references to the Fifties/Sixties Entertainment Biz, it's like a time machine. Classic lines like "What is it boy, is Timmy in Trouble"?? "Oh You crazy, wonderful Zombie..." Carrie Ann Moss, In Love with...With....W I T H, A, A, A, Zombie???,and He, It? is in love with her?? The colorful cinematography is like a postcard in all of its colorful beauty. If you are a fan of the TV series "Pushing Daisies", you will LOVE "FIDO" Go "Fetch It" now!!!

A cross between 'Pleasantville' and 'Night of the Living Dead'. Very seldom do I watch a movie twice during the same rental. The old 'Lassie' references and other 50's fam-coms made drinking a dangerous proposition near electronics! PTD

Movie of the year, without a doubt. Blew away EVERYTHING produced by Big $orrywood this year. Hilarious! I cannot find one criticism; all aspects of this movie were well done. I rarely give 5 stars to any movie (especially of this genre), because there are so few classics made anymore. This one is an instant classic, and richly earned my rating. It will be a cult hit for years to come. Don't be put off by the name, the picture on the box, or the naysayers. If you like dark comedy, this is for you. Of course, this movie will not likely win an Oscar, but it should win 3, at least. Out of almost 200 movies I have seen this year (some produced from previous years), this movie had the best screenplay, direction, and supporting cast. Perfect in every way. Don't miss out on it. Don't know what Joel G. is talking about. THIS IS NOT A TIM BURTON FILM. Joel G. is as off the mark on that point, as he is with his entire review.
