Diagnosed with terminal cancer and given only a short while to live, a successful fashion photographer embarks on one final journey in the second of three films in a trilogy about death and mourning from French director François Ozon (the first entry in the the trilogy was Under the Sand) . After passing out during a particularly grueling photo shoot, high profile shutterbug Romain (Melvil Poupaud) is shocked to discover that his body has been ravaged by a fully metastasized cancer that will soon kill him. Without revealing the cause for his erratic behavior, the shell shocked Romain commences to alienate his entire family and ditch his handsome young boyfriend before connecting with affable waitress Jany (Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi) at a roadside café while en route to his grandmother's house. Upon arriving at the home of the one family member he knows will be joining him shortly in death, Romain's naked vulnerability is met with a gentle ear and sound advice. Once again meeting with the kindly Jany on his way to his ultimate fate, Romain and the waitress strike up an unusual bargain. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Amazing movie, like all Ozon's it discusses real human emotions and problems and deals with the complex psyche of the human mind. It contains some male nudity that some people didn't like, but I have to say that was really essential to the core of the movie and helping its progress as it rolls on. It is the best movie dealing with emotions at the end of someone's life with terminal cancer. Here we see someone reacting with anger sometimes, guilt another, love and for sure clinging on to life. it was represented in a very unusual way where at the end Poupaud (Romain) decides to accept an offer to procreate finding it the best way to give his short 31 years existence on earth a meaning. But here Ozon decides it to be done by thresome!! I recomend this movie highly and I cannot wait to see next Ozon's movie.

Having rented this flick just because of the film genre - VERY surprise when we found the movie at its end and wanting to know more about the characters in this slice of real life french film. Characters so well written I felt as if I knew them personally and related to life drama like a page from my own life. I say - "Qui Qui" for sure if you want to see a great movie with loved one.

Sorry, but something about it turned me off completely. Admittedly, I didn't watch it to the end, but the soft-porn approach early on just didn't fit with my expectations for a touching movie about dying of cancer.
