Synopsis of Zaion: I Wish You Were Here [Anime Series]

A meteorite has crashed to Earth, bringing with it the greatest epidemic that humanity has ever seen. The M-34 virus causes countless people to mutate, turning into violent alien-looking creatures that destroy all in their path until they are killed. With over half of the population dead from the M-34, the government has implemented a task force called the NOA, whose soldiers are injected with nanomachines that fight off the virus. The M-34 is mutating, however, and soon the NOA will be just as vulnerable as the public at large. Humanity's last hope is Ai, a girl who lives in a scientific facility and whose true powers to combat the virus are known only to a select few.
