Y Tu Mamá También and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuarón returns to the helm to tell this futuristic tale in which society is without hope since humankind lost its ability to procreate. The year is 2027, and women can no longer give birth. The youngest inhabitant of the planet has just died at the age of 18, and all hope for humanity has been lost. As civilization descends into chaos, a dying world finds one last chance for survival in the form of a woman who has become inexplicably pregnant. Now, as warring nationalistic sects clash and British leaders try to maintain their totalitarian stronghold on the country, a disillusioned bureaucrat (Clive Owen) is brought back into the fold of activism by his guerrilla ex-wife (Julianne Moore). Reluctantly, he takes on the daunting task of escorting Kee (Claire-Hope Ashitey), the refugee who represents humankind's last hope for survival, out of harm's way and into the care of a mysterious organization known as The Human Project. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Charlie Hunnam, and Michael Caine co-star in this adaptation of author P.D. James's gripping 1992 novel. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I can't believe some of the 3 hour garbage that gets nominated for awards and this movie gets lost in the shadows. My Queue was low so this finally made it to my house and i'm glad it did. A good story and acting kept me engaged until the abrupt end. I've never written a review and was compelled to try and spread the word for this movie. A change of pace from the typical stories and well worth the rental.

To tell the truth I wasn't expecting much...then it started to really grab me. Michael Caine was incredible as the pot smoking loving husband long time friend. The cinematography was excellent. A unique story line that was very refreshing to watch unfold.

Great story, cinematography, acting, effects, ambiance...everything! Clive Owen is outstanding as usual, the past, present and future actor who is balanced and overcomes with both strength and intelligence, and luck! Not set too far in the future as to impose a disconnect, this is a film with an eerie weightiness to it that will also appeal to the conspiracy theorist of today, or typical action buff and philosopher. Not seemingly following the typical flow of most movies in its genre, it does things you might not expect it to do. Also, definitely a movie which can and needs to be watched more than once.
