The Comedians of Comedy (2005)

The Comedians of Comedy (2005)
Member Rating:
Four comics take their offbeat brand of humor on the road in this blend of performance video and backstage documentary. Patton Oswalt, best known for his recurring role on the sitcom The King of Queens, wanted to stage a tour doing his standup material, but was hoping to avoid the strictures of time and material he ran into when playing comedy clubs. Looking for an alternative, he teamed up with friends and fellow humorists Brian Posehn (a former regular on Mr. Show and Just Shoot Me), Maria Bamford (who does cartoon voices in her spare time), and Zach Galifianakis (the star of a short-lived talk show on VH1), and booked a string of dates at rock clubs and college campuses across the country. The Comedians of Comedy features highlights from all four performers' best sets, as well as a glimpse of the ups and downs of life on the road and how they spend their spare time at home. The Comedians of Comedy also provided the jumping-off point for a Comedy Central television series featuring the same four artists. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I usually dont review movies but when I saw these two... shall I say comedy challenged reviews, I had to enlighten those who love to laugh. Now this movie is the last thing I expected it has a childish tone that is reminescent of "The Office" meets "Monty Pithon with a "Borat" edginess to it." I dont know if this is the best combo but if you like both of these and maybe Star Wars and kinda Nerdy stuff like comic book characters... or movies based on superheroes, you will love this movie. There is Bush bashing but lets face it, comedy and music is an inherant leftist undertaking, so that is bound to happen. Secondly theres only a couple minutes of that so hit the skip button and stop whining. There are its lulls, the chick isnt that funny, and some sketches miss the bus and are real weird. But all in all I had about 10 times where I laughed so hard my stocmach hurt. RENT THIS MOVIE IF YOU ARE NOT UPTIGHT AND WANT TO LAUGH!

Proof that guys take a long time to grow up. The stand up had some humorous moments if desperate for laughs. The doc side was a total waste and the s/u excerpts were not nearly as good as they were in the context of the full show

This was terrible. There was unrelated profanity just for the sake of using blue language and it was not funny. What a waste of time.
