This series has a real grit to it: fantastic character development, believable plots, and lives that you really care about. You cheer for the hero. You cheer for the anti-hero. The viewer is sucked in with brutal dialog and archetypal values of honor--when it suits the moment, greed, imperialism, and survival. The people of Deadwood are human, and therefore flawed. Perhaps that is what draws viewers in so deeply. I absolutely love this series.

This series is excellent! It took me awhile to settle in to the dialogue, but once I got past my initial shock, the language began to flow. This is not passive entertainment. This show requires your full attention in order to pick up all of the nuances and meanings in every scene. Now that we have finished watching seasons one and two, we need our "fix". When will season three be available through Blockbuster? Netflix has it! Please get it ASAP! I'm sure there are others impatiently waiting to see what happens after "the wedding".

both series one and two are the best western series i have ever seen. it was realistic of the old west. it was not prettied up for the viewers. i regret that i have heard nothing of a third series. i hope they do continue it. If you get the first one you will find yourself going to get the next one as soon as you finish the first, and it continues that way throughout both episodes.
