A mysterious meteor infected with a deadly alien plague brings chaos to a small hunting town in the feature-length directorial debut of screenwriter James Gunn (Scooby-Doo, Dawn of the Dead). Booted out of bed by his young, trophy-wife Starla (Elizabeth Banks), and in desperate need of some female companionship, wealthy Grant Grant (Michael Rooker) picks up bar local floozy Brenda (Brenda James) and heads into the woods for a hedonistic night of extramarital excitement. When a flaming meteor lights up the sky before crashing to the ground nearby, Grant's curiosity gets the best of him and he sets out to find the space rock. Subsequently infected with a rampaging space virus, which he passes along to Brenda, Grant transforms into a horrific, cow-munching monster and begins terrorizing the town. As thousands of squirmy space slugs burrow into the brains of the unsuspecting Wheelsy denizens creating an ever-amassing horde of mindless space zombies, panic grips the small town and it's up to Starla, Sheriff Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion), and gung-ho mayor Jack MacReady (Gregg Henry) to put an end to the infection and save the planet. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Awsome! Very silly. Very campy. Great one liners. Good production. Not a serious horror film at all. Great old school monster movie vibe. Will perhaps make the girlfriend scream a few times. If you want to have a good time and you're not an overly critical movie viewer, this one is a blast. Enjoy

Heres one of my favorite real bloody gory film.It goes over the edge. The acting between two lovers gives a great touching end. Nathan Fillion(Buffy The Vampire Slayer Seventh Season,Firefly)gives a great performance and willing to work hard in this film.Great CGI effects it feels like their really there. The story is believeable.Put this in your queue or the Slithers will get you.

Not a serious horror flick, clearly more of a spoofy attempt that makes fun of itself and the entire sci-fi horror genre through dialog and sight gags. Some folks gave it bad reviews, but I think if you watch it with the expectation of it NOT being a hard core horror you can enjoy it. Dialogue was funny, the Mayor was hiilarious. Special effects were pretty good, plenty of gore, slime, and guns. Don't rent it if your expecting a serious attempt at horror, rent if for a laff and have fun with it. I did.
