This is not a particularly comfortable movie to watch. There is a transgendered character here who, I must say, carries the movie all the way to the end. Being a person that does not know any transgenederd person or quite understand them, it was a bit uneasy to watch. But once you get pass that, the movie is actually quite good! The Japanese were played by Filipinos - a flaw - because I was not a bit convinced at their portrayal. If I knew Japanese I probably would have also found their Japanese to be terrible. Overall this movie is highly recommended. There are flaws in film but its humanist portrayal of the character makes it worth watching.
unlike the other Filipino war movies, this one stands out the best for me! the story is not corny, it's really believable and convincing. though it's not a "Saving Private Ryan" kind of production but i think the director made a great movie out of this. i applaud the actors as well for portraying their respective roles with such realism. i can say this film belongs to the Philippines' Greatest Films, not only the credits go to the actors but because the story reflects of who we are now as Filipinos especially those who came before us and suffered.
A must-see movie!
