If you are renting this, like I did, because you read the book. You will be disappointed. The book is so much better and more detailed. Don't bother if you have already read the book.

The only good about this movie was the reason I wanted to see it: Mariska Hargitay. The portrayal of the Amish wasn't even accurate - even simple things like their clothing. And I thought the storyline (or at least how it was interpreted, as I understand it was based on a book) was ignorant, boring, predictable and unrealistic.

Apart from the hotty actress playing the lawyer, the movie pretty much sucked. What are people seeing in this to give it a 4.5 overall rating? Seriously, the movie isn't even close to that caliber of rating. I'm giving it a rating of 1/2 star to help start the bump down...
