Life as seen through the eyes of a child can be full of wonder, but life as seen through the eyes of an Indigo child can spread that sense of childlike perception to others and open paths to them that they may have never imagined. Shortly after Ray's (writer/director Neale Donald Walsch) business fails as a result of his unprincipled tactics, the weary grandfather is entrusted with the safety of his ten-year-old granddaughter, Grace (Meghan McCandless). Though Ray is at first somewhat apprehensive about his new charge, the discovery that Grace's father has grown increasingly unstable leaves the devoted grandfather no choice but to help offer his young granddaughter the love and stability that her mother and father cannot. As Ray and Grace attempt to escape the young girl's troubled past, the gifted child opens her jaded grandfather up to a whole new way of looking at the world. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Done in the spirit of the "exceptional child has much to warmly teach those adults around her through extraordinary means" genre, Indigo does a good job avoiding getting lost in telling this story. This movie is based on a mixture of actual reports of what are called "indigo children." This movie could have easily become lost in a frenzy of heart throbbing action and special effects, but the directors chose to (here's one I love to say) compel you with the story and to let the actors paint the picture. What a novel idea. My only complaint would be that the lesson the movie tries to teach seems to get a bit lost. Maybe it's a bit too subtle to pick up on easily. Then again...maybe that's the idea.

I mostly wanted to see the film becuase it was all (or nearly) shot in Ashland Oregon with local amateur actors. I was half-way hoping for a wee bit of nostalgia for the place, not to mention the high density of new-age types to be found thereabouts. The film lived up to this much. I saw plenty of familiar sights. I didn't like the suspense (so many guns flashing!), the mena, cynical, sarcastic conversations between famliy members, or the numerous 'driving around' pans, or the awkward dialog that seemed like it was being read from cue cards. I did like the premise of the film, and remain open to seeing more flicks that might present an alternate view of reality. I especially liked the nice twist at the end, and the way that the protaganist child wraps it all up with her gift, and every one gets their hearts opened.

interesting movie, but not the best the little girl was smart and witty which was refreshing, but the story line was a little slow and confusing, definatly not a family movie, more information about these "Indigo children" would have been more entertaining
