Synopsis of Gilmore Girls: Rory's Birthday Parties

The real-life birthday of Gilmore Girls costar Alexis Bledel may well have been the inspiration for this episode, in which Bledel's character Rory finds herself in the middle of a familial tug-of-war. It seems that both Rory's mom, Lorelai (Lauren Graham), and her grandmother, Emily (Kelly Bishop), are planning separate Sweet Sixteen parties for the girl -- and both are so concerned over staging the best possible party that they have lost sight of what Rory really wants for this special occasion. The crisis leads to a strange reunion and another Moment of Truth between the two senior female members of the Gilmore clan. ~ Rovi
