This production pretends to be a documentary of the history of Cuban music, but fails in every way. It has no direction, no informative material, and no substance. It is just a bunch of footage from other documentaries-- most of which I have in my private collection-- thrown in with footage of everyday Cubans dancing. It starts off with the cha cha cha, then heads to the Cuban son, Filim (pronounced "feeling"), and yet it goes nowhere fast. Rather than inform its viewer of the vast musical history of Cuba and the direction in which the music is headed, this film is just another attempt to ride on the coat-tails of Buena Vista Social Club's success.

Although this film lacks the Polish of a professional studio. The material and stories are priceless. This film gives a street smart history lesson about Cuban Music and has a wonderful mix of contemporary and historic Cuban Rhythms to listen to - A+. Caution everything is in Spanish.
