I am giving this movie three stars for two reasons only. First, the story is told in a novel way--the movie starts with the divorce of the couple in question and ends with them meeting each other at a singles resort. By telling the story in reverse, the movie maker does not give too much away and forces the audience to form its own conclusions about what motivates the characters to behave as they do. Second, the film maker depicted the two main character in an unflinchingly honest light. Translation: he showed them doing things that made them look bad, risking the audience's sympathy. The director made no attempt to manipulate the movie's audience into liking or identifying with the characters. Beyond that, the movie wasn't remarkable. The subject matter is rather trite and the acting, while technically competent, wasn't outstanding. If you are in the mood for subtitles and conjecture check this out. Otherwise skip it.

Seemed like a 2004 attempt at nouvelle vague. I can't recommend it.

The actress is charming and though the story seems incomplete, I enjoyed watching it.
