Death in Holy Orders was one of my favorite PD James' books. This is true to the book. Adam Dalgliesh appears older than I had imagined but his personality characteristics are played very true to the novel.

This film was the first I've seen with a different actor portraying Commander Dalgleish, which was a little disconcerting at first but Martin Shaw's an excellent actor and the story is one of P. D. James' best. The production values of this entire series are outstanding.

Having seen all of the BBC Adam Dalgliesh movies with Roy Marsden in the title role, I wasn't sure about how well Martin Shaw would fit into the part. My conclusion is that they are both superb! It's not fair that the BBC has such a fine stock of actors to choose from! I wish we had a comparble institution on this side of the Atlantic.
