    From the perspective of someone older who has never seen any comic or animated series related to this movie (in other words, I'm someone who had never heard of Aeon Flux before....) I liked the movie. I'm a HUGE Theron fan (I saw an oscar winne coming in the abilities she showed in "Devil's Advocate") and thought she did a good job here. One thing I should mention, to be fair..........I didn't like the movie anywhere near as much the first time around as I did after I'd seen it several more times on cable. There are a lot of layers I didn't see the first time because they got covered up by very unusual plot ideas and funky special effects. But the more times I watched it, the more I like it. Aeon Flux has grown on me to the point where I now give it four stars.

    This Aeon Flux is very different from the cartoon. Really, the only similarities include characters and the setting. It doesn't have a plot similar to the cartoon whatsoever. The cartoon was more about the disamiguity of good and evil, while the show has a definite good side and evil side. It is a great story none the less, but don't expect it to capture the originality and greatness of the cartoon.

    The special effects were nice and the sets were spectacular. Good cinematography too. The dialogue was awful. At times it seems like characters were having separate conversations. If you watch the featurettes they say it was an original story but it's similar to Logan's Run (utopia, dark secret, unhappy sect, turned establishment). Theron, a talented actor, was miscast in this roll. It needed someone more athletic and the proof is in the costumes. The animated Aeon had more risque outfits which were probably deemed inappropriate by Theron. The action sequences already paled in comparison to those in Resident Evil, Ultra-Violet, and The Fifth Element. Ironic since those movies were undoubtedly inspired by the animated series (deadly girl, lots of running, high kill count).
