First-time director Morgan Spurlock takes a look at the subject of obesity in the United States, specifically zeroing in on the business and culture surrounding the nation's fast-food industry in this 2004 documentary. In addition to studying the marketing of fast food to American children and unsuccessfully attempting to gain an interview with McDonald's executives, Spurlock attempts to become one of his own subjects by documenting a one-month binge during which he survived only on items from the McDonald's menu, forcing himself to eat three meals a day and try every offering at least once. Excellent expose on the "control" the fast food industry has over the general population and how nutritionally void this food is. Their advertising is designed to deceive and capture the youngest of us. Contrary to a previous review, Morgan was not a vegan - but regardless - to start on this venture as a healthy individual, and in less than 30 days, become extremely unhealthy, is enlightening. Every school kid should see this. And then tell their parents.

For your own health, I highly recommend watching this movie. You know going into it that eating only McDonalds is going to be bad... what's amazing is just how bad it is. Even the doctors who are monitoring his health are surprised at how quickly his health deteriorated. While I rarely go to fast food restaurants, this movie has given me the resolve to keep my son from going there unless its a very special treat.
