This documentary is an excellent introduction to the life and contribution of Archimedes along with ancient writings that were discovered during the early 20th century but are being revisited with modern technology.
I look forward to an update! This DVD talks about an ancient copy of a book written by Archimedes, and then the ink was washed off and the paper (I think it was actually goat skin or something) was reused to make a prayer book. The book was recently rediscovered, and it shows how people are trying to read Archimedes' washed out and faded writing underneath the prayer book writings. Some background information is given on Archimedes, but this documentary only tells a part of the story. Otherwise, I would have given it five stars.
I was a bit disappointed in this film in that its focue was too much on deciphering a worthy text, but not so much on the life of Archimedes. Perhaps not enough is actually known. However, as a history, math, and science buff I finished it unfullfilled. Many of us can handle the mathematics and science and I was disappointed in the "generalality" of the piece.
