Six men unwittingly walk the fine line that separates comrades from enemies in this historical drama. In 1864, as the Civil War continues to ravage the American South, a three-day skirmish known as the Battle of the Wilderness rages in Virginia. After a long day of fighting, three weary Confederate soldiers -- Harrison Bolding (Brian J. Merrick), James Hogg (Terry Jernigan), and After Stand Kennerly (Aaron Jackson) -- become separated from their company and find themselves lost in the woods after nightfall. As they set up camp for the night, they're joined by three other fighting men, John Sunderlin (DJ Perry), Augustus Elliot (Curtis Hall), and Pietro Brolo (Mark Lacy), who have also lost their way, and the six soldiers spend the night sharing their meager rations and telling stories. When they awake the next morning, the men make a startling discovery -- in the darkness, the Confederates were unable to tell that their guests were Union soldiers, causing all six men to look upon their actions with suspicion and fear. Wicked Spring was the first narrative feature for director Kevin R. Hershberger. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The soldiers that fought the Civil War were all Americans. The commen bonds and hatred and brutality they shared is reflected in WS. Unlike any other war film done, the viewer is given a "fly on the wall" view one night set around a camp fire after a rough battle. Several soldiers from both sides rest with their shell jackets off tending their wounds, thinking they are all on the same side until they all relise the truth. Amazing and brutal. Don't expect Cold Moutain, GwTW or even Gettysburg. This is made by living historians for the same.

This movie is not the typical, fast-paced war movie that you would expect. It has some moments that are very slow moving. If the movie were a bit more fast-paced, it could have the potential of being a great movie.

The concept is interesting and the period costumes are excellent but the horrible directing and atrocious acting were enough to cause me to not even get halfway through the movie. And I'm a Civil War buff.
