Standard educated city boy vs. small town good 'ol boys fair. Nathan Fillion is likable and does well as the tortured writer retreating to his father's old hunting cabin to sort out his life and write a book. Fillion's character is flawed and a reluctant hero when he save's a girl's life from a corrupt sherrif, not unlike his Malcom Reynolds character from Firefly. A corrupt town mayor, police force, a bag of money and the girl all make trouble for Fillion's character and his wife. Nothing new or innovative about the plot but the movie was entertaining enough.

Water's edge is pure drivel. I was so disappointed after seeing this movie. I'm a huge fan of Nathan Fillion. What was he doing in a movie that barely qualifies as a Lifetime movie of the week? Was the money too good to pass up? The rest of the cast wasn't bad either, Emmanuelle Vaugier is smoking hot, but again - Why this piece of junk? The story is predictable right out of the "paint by numbers" crime handbook. Sex, politics, blackmail, murder, lies, and money. Standard fare. The movie itself is ok as it plods along slowly, and was on it's way to a barely passing grade. Then comes the ending. Oh brother! Total nonsense. It's rediculaous to even begin to believe that an audience would buy into this junk. It's an insult to our intelligence. Therefore, this movie sucks and I would never recommend it. BARF!

This movie contains no big names, the story is a little bland, but somehow it is just a great movie. I can't tell you why I liked it so much (besides being a serenity fan and therefore supporting Nathan Fillion however possible), but I did. maybe it's because Chandra West and Emmanuelle Vaugier are two extremely gorgeous women. Worth seeing, ESPECIALLY if you think Chandra West is BEAUTIFUL.
