In 1980 this was a smash hit TV mini-series. Battlestar Galatica was a technological marvel for TV at the time. Universal Studios (Calif.) even had an mini-set of Battlestar Galactica on part of its shuttle bus ride. Complete with Cylon's at the entrance of the set. This DVD is no Coaster as Tim T. suggests. It might be technologically challenged by todays standards but my children are coming over with their families to watch this DVD with me. They were 7 and 3 at the time. Watch the trailer and remember this was 1979/1980's special effects. Rather stunning IMHO.

Compared to the 1978 series, this is a horrible continuation of the saga. This can be directly blamed on the push for all media to be wholesome PC PSA nonsense instead of actually creative or entertaining (plus the studio was complaining about the budget of the older series being too high). I'm sad that the story never really got to be buttoned up, but with the way it was going Galactica 1980 needed to get canceled. I recommend that no Galactica fan ever watch this and simply imagine your own better ending to the 1978 series.

This was a series I MISSED on TV. I really liked disk 1 am looking forward to #2. I've watched all of the newer BSG & AM going back to watch the orig.. They are slightly diff. but the basic story line is the same, even if the actors have changed. They do justice to it and complete the story
