So in searching for a good gay indie film, I found Longing. It's OK. First of all, it's either filmed in digital or on some unusual stock. It felt like I was watching something I taped on a cam-corder. Also, one of the actors is Brazillian, but all of his dialogue is in English?.. because the German love-interest doesn't know Portugese, maybe? Which begs the question, why not use a German actor who knows Portugese, or a Brazillian who knows German? Three languages didn't make sense to me. At least the thing is subtitled. At least a couple of the actors are serious eye-candy. Otherwise, this rating would have been one star.

I've seen big budget and low budget films. This one is in the NO budget category. One third is a collection of bad rap music videos, one third is a sermon on race relations in Brazil that had nothing to do with the rest of the film and the rest was a weak plot with lots of filler. Eric and Miguel saw each other across the room and fell into mad passionate love? That was not believable. One thing that really showed the shallowness of this film was a short discussion about an escape from major catastrophe and the talk was as intense as one would expect if they were talking about why the convenience store opened 5 minutes early. Skip this turkey.

Story line was near impossible to follow. Not worth your time.
