Cirque du Soleil: Varekai (2003)
Member Rating:
The newest presentation of the fabled French-Canadian Cirque du Soleil was unveiled June 14, 2003, in this Bravo network cable special. Priding themselves on never exploiting animals to entertain the public, the members of the Cirque troupe are all astonishingly talented and dauntlessly fearless athletes, gymnasts, and magicians. Among the special's highlights is a heart-stopping display of trapeze prowess 50 feet above the ground (without a net, of course). Varekai originally aired as the capper for Bravo's all-day marathon of the theatrical documentary Cirque du Soleil: Fire Within. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Disc 2 is just a special featurs disc that really isn't all that great. My advice is to break the two apart and skip this disc as the entire performance is on disc 1.

This particular Cirque du Soleil show not only displays some great costuming and signature performances, but the music (as usual) is awesome. One piece in particular near the beginning (12:00 to 17:00 minute mark)... just beautiful.
