A stove explosion leaves Hawkeye (Alan Alda) badly burned and blinded. Faced with the prospect of permanent sightlessness, Hawkeye takes some comfort in the consul of a patient who likewise can no longer see (that patient is played by blind singer-composer Tom Sullivan).
