This evolves the modern zombie movie by making it go beyond the basic fight for survival premise. A lot of elements like the importance of family, the fight to find other survivors, the search important elements we take for granted liek food and clothes, the idea of repopulating and s3x, and the fate of rebuilding society are thrown in, that other zombie movies typically wouldn't go towards. I never saw this movie before now, and now I see why it was such a big deal when it was released. It's more than just surviving the zombie apocalypse. It's about rebuilding society and trying not to fall apart in the chaos.

Post-apocalyptic movies hold a place in my heart. Aside from my bias though, the acting was great and the setting was frightening and believable. This is one of those movies where you squeeze your girl/boyfriends hand tightly when the action starts up. Very suspenseful and fun.

What's scarier that waking up all of a sudden and finding out that the city you live in is deserted, trashed, turned upside down and completely wasted? Probably a bunch of strangers screaming and running at you for no apparent reason. Oh, yeah, and they're trying to kill you too. An excellent story, a great premise and an easily recommended movie for all horror movie fans.
