The definition of a Glasgow kiss is for someone to lean in as though to hug but then head-butt you instead. So like its title, this series is not what you would expect. It is still fresh and memorable years after its six episodes originally aired. The writing and acting are topnotch. The characters are real & vivid; fallible & funny; moving & at times maddening, but always sincere & believable. Cara (Sharon Small) a high flying management consultant from London, is sent back to her home town, Glasgow, for ten weeks to evaluate a newly acquired newspaper & to take the pressure off her married boss with whom she is having an affair. There she collides with Stuart (Iain Glen) , a sportswriter for the newspaper, struggling to balance career & single parenthood. Neither can anticipate the road their initial fireworks will take them down. But it is well worth the journey.
