At first my child was not interested in watching the DVD but after a few tries he sat down wanted to watch it over and over again. I think the lesson in what to do when there is a fire got him interested. And that it is alright to be afraid.

My two year old grandson first saw this when I borrowed it from the library. After paying late fines I sprang for one to come to him in the mail. His mom said that during the time he didn't have it he would stand in front of the TV and say 'pleez Mo-mo'. He is very attentive to it. When Elmo is shaking I say to Nicholas "is Elmo scared? aw, it's ok Elmo, don't worry, don't be scared". To be fair, he always loved fire trucks and that is why I got it in the first place and there are enough in it to make him happy, real ones with ladders and cartoon ones. He loves the pole, the firefighters, the lady who dons various outfits looking for the proper firefighting clothes. The part with the family doing a mock escape is interesting to him, also the parts with firemen and their own kids. All in all it is a great video. There's a wonderful song done by cartoon characters, 'get out, stay out, doncha go back in'.

I had high hopes for this dvd, my son likes Elmo and loves fire engines, what a disappointment. First, it's too scary, elmo is shaking in fear, my son got upset, but I thought wait here comes the fire engine, wrong! No, here comes more scared Elmo and now scarey looking firefighters. Next you think ok finally fire engines at the firehouse and no, they eat instead! I had to turn it off, it was bad and boring, not tested on kids.
