Taking his cue from such 1970s horror classics as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and The Hills Have Eyes (1977), animated rocker Rob Zombie goes celluloid with the throwback shocker House of 1000 Corpses. Running low on gas as they travel the highways of America in search of the ultimate roadside attraction, a group of teens pull into Captain Spaulding's (Sid Haig) museum of oddities (which also offers fried chicken and gasoline) only to become obsessed with uncovering the mystery of a legendary local maniac known only as Dr. Satan. When an attractive and mysterious hitchhiker subsequently offers to give the thrill seekers a personal tour of Dr. Satan's old stabbing grounds, a breakdown forces them to take refuge with a group of menacing oddballs as a fearsome storm rages outside. As the evening progresses and the backwoods hosts' Halloween festivities become ever more threatening, the teens soon realize that the legend of Dr. Satan may hold a bit more contemporary weight than any of them had previously thought. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This is a style of horror all of its own. Its vulgar, gory, and freaky. The best way I could describe this movie is it has a "Pulp Fiction" taste to horror. Some scenes are shocking, but yet in the mist of this there is some seriously dark humor that really becomes addicting. This movie is simply going to divide the crowd into those who hate Rob Zombie films and those that love them. If you have never seen any of his films, and you like heavy horror style movies, then I suggest you start with this one. The only part that stretched the movie into a place it really should not of gone in my opinion was the burial and underground stuff at the end. To be honest, leaving the Dr to our imagination would of been better. Sid, Bill, and Sheri could of easily carried the story with more air time!

This was recommended to me by another "sick" friend of mine!! I thought it was wonderful - but you have to like 80's slasher films to truly appreciate it. If you're looking for an in-depth film with plot twists and all - this is NOT FOR YOU. Personally, I can't wait to see Devil's Rejects now.

That one sheriff's deputy turned out to be quite a wussy!!! Dr Satan was cool! Captain Spaulding was one bada$$ dude! The girl( Sherri Moon's character was plain annoying! That Otis dude also annoyed the shiiit out of me. the big deformed looking one,(Tiny), was too slow!! They should have beat the shiiiit out of him!!!! And the guy that played grandpa looked like he had something stuck up his a$$ all the time. what a group of weirdos! lol!
