The scenery would be enough to warrant a look at this movie! The story, characters and acting just make it better. Set in a small fishing village, the allegorical nature of the plot carries you along. The ending may seem a little abrupt but give it a chance to "mellow" and it becomes very satisfying. You can watch for the younger son to sneak a peek at the director/camera now and then but he really steals the show whenever he's on screen. Worth a rental!

the photography and settings are incredible. The interaction between cast is believeable and warm. I felt the script was slow and the drama a bit off, but the film was still well worth the time to watch.

I saw this film as deep and very powerful. The themes present the fundamental and, sometimes, disturbing nature of humankind. I was very impressed by the stark representation of complex (and timeless) issues. I agree that the scenery was striking but there is much more to this thought-provoking work of art.
