    I agree with Philline V. and Mark W. Usually I can overlook video and audio deficiencies in older recordings. However, in this case the shortcomings are so egregious that they thoroughly limited my enjoyment of this DVD. This is one DVD to avoid.

    The quality of the film and sound is poor, which is frustrating trying to watch these great Wagnerians in the composer's crowning glory.

    Bad picture and even worse sound obscure the quality of the performance, making the opera practically unwatchable. Rent the more recent version.
