Synopsis of Anthems from King's

Slated to coincide with the 50th anniversary jubilee of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and situated in the chapel of King's College, Cambridge -- the home of so much beloved English choral music over the decades, with its soaring spires and vaulted ceilings exuding old English romanticism -- Anthems from King's features The Choir of King's College performing 13 timeless hymns. The pieces that are sung include: "Hail, Gladdening Light" by Charles Wood, "I Was Glad" by Hubert Parry, "Greater Love Hath No Man" by John Ireland, "Bring Us, O' Lord God" and "Faire is the Heaven" by William H. Harris, "And I Saw a New Heaven" by Edgar Bainton, "Like as the Hart" by Herbert Howells, "Gloria in Excelsis" and " "Beati quorum via" by Sir Charles Villiers Stanford, "Evening Hymn" by Balfour Gardiner, "God be in my Head" by Walford Davies, "Vox dicentis clama" by Edward Naylor, and "Let all the World" by Ralph Vaughan Williams. All hymns are accompanied by the 17th century chapel organ, played alternately by organists Daniel Hyde and Ashley Grote. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
