Not exactly a documentary, this is more like a personal editorial and treatise on the origins and true human costs of vinyl siding. I always thought of vinyl siding as being an inexpensive alternative to wooden siding and frequent paint jobs, so I was surprised to learn about the real toll that its production takes on the workers involved in making it, as well as on the people who live in the plants' surrounding communities. Blue Vinyl takes us on a world-scope adventure, travelling from New Jersey to Louisiana to Venice, Italy! Along the way, we meet some unforgettable people - both drolly funny and sadly tragic, and throughout, we are given much food for thought along with our laughs. Make sure you check out the extras on the DVD - especially the follow-up sections about a much better use for her parents' vinyl siding, and their eventual move. Altogether, I am pleased that I gave this indie film a chance!

Very well done! Presenting a very grim situation in a 'humorous' way. Plenty of irony, and lots of good information - don't miss the extras!

Wow what an eye opener! Educational, compelling and entertaining. We have decided not to put vinyl siding on our house because of this movie. Bless you (director) Judith! Thank you for the wake up call.
