I read the book in the seventies and I remember watching this on TV with my six sisters and my mother. As a COLORED girl myself I totally related with this play. This is to all who can vibe with a sista who knows her poetry, check this out after reading the BOOK!!! I saw Tyler Perry's version at the cinema and I enjoyed it as well. And folks please understand that this is POETRY and it in it self can be somewhat abstract, but if you've ever considered SUICIDE when the rainbow was ENUF then rent this and enjoy.

To Shanlonda F:Your review of "for Colored Girls" shows you are devoid of good taste, would not recognize good literature if it hit you in the face. The movie rendition by Tyler Perry is exceptional. All of the actors are exceptional but neither the movie or the actors got a whiff of mention in SAG awards, Oscar nomination of Foreign Press. I viewed the movie twice and am more convinced than ever this movie and the actors were snubbed by the industry. They have more acting chops in their little finger than the nominated actresses of all the award nominees. And the poetry is exceptional. If you can't understand the life of these women you won't get the movie or the poetry. You're just not there yet. You have no sympatico. Sorry for you. This movie is about everything that is happening today, abuse, rape violence to women, children, abortion rights, etc. I suggest you take you head out of the sand.
