The Oakland Raiders finished a successful season with a final stab at the AFC championship. The team highlights are featured on NFL: 2001 Oakland Raiders Team Video. With the youthful Jon Gruden leading the way, the Raiders built a firm season leading up to the AFC West playoffs. Rich Gannon, the league-MVP candidate, helped the Raiders to an early run of victories. He was bolstered by cornerback Eric Allen who played well on a healed knee injury.
