Yul Brynner's portrayal of the gunfighter in this movie shows a mastery of the psycological western character. Like Glenn Ford's character in, 3:10 To Yuma, Brynner's subtle change from killer to savior keeps one glued to the screen as the plot and sub-plots reveal themselves. Finally, at the surprising end, one experiences a true ending, unlike many westerns today, that leave questions about what happens next. This is a must view movie and I class it as one of the greatest westerns ever made!

For being 46 years old, this movie was like a good classic western (when I thought I'd seen 'em all). Yul Brynner is good as always and played a "bad man" role quite well...a classy "bad man" really. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
