Member Rating:
The second of the George Lucas/Steven Spielberg Indiana Jones epics is set a year or so before the events in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1984). After a brief brouhaha involving a precious vial and a wild ride down a raging Himalyan river, Indy (Harrison Ford) gets down to the problem at hand: retrieving a precious gem and several kidnapped young boys on behalf of a remote East Indian village. His companions this time around include a dimbulbed, easily frightened nightclub chanteuse (Kate Capshaw), and a feisty 12-year-old kid named Short Round (Quan Ke Huy). Throughout, the plot takes second place to the thrills, which include a harrowing rollercoaster ride in an abandoned mineshaft and Indy's rescue of the heroine from a ritual sacrifice. There are also a couple of cute references to Raiders of the Lost Ark, notably a funny variation of Indy's shooting of the Sherpa warrior. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This was a little less serious than Raiders of the Lost Ark; Kate & Quan really gave it the bang it needed opposite Harrison in terms of comic relief. I think this one was to play more to the kids in the audience but still had a degree of action/story that draws the interest of adults. Again as with Raiders, I come back and watch this movie (actually the entire set of sequels) and really like this more than any of the Star Wars movies which only interested me in a sporadic manner with the original movie being the best, in my opinion. I'm just a big Harrison Ford fan and so I really like all of his work.

Its a must watch. One of the most famous film series in the history of hollywood and just non-stop adventure. This was a lot lighter than the other two in my opinion but the action can't be denied.

This is certainly not as good as Raiders. There are a few good scenes but overall I didn't like it that much. I read some reviews about this film from critics before I saw it and they pretty much had the same opinon.
