The action was rather lame, the story was a bit confusing and disjointed. It was hard for me to like this movie, as much as I wanted to because two of my favorite actors are in it, Tony Leung and Cecilia Cheung. It was described as 'action-packed' but the director tried to get too cutely smug with some of the scenes that never really excited. Every fight scene seemed unoriginal and phony, even without any wire-fu. Tony Leung and Ekin Cheng were funny, they pretty much made the movie. And I was a little upset that Cecilia Cheung only appeared for about the last 20 minutes, but then I think this was one of her earlier films before she got her big break in Running on Karma with Andy Lau. I suggest passing on this movie.

It would be great if studios would stop making low budget movies that try to cash in on well known faces. Lighthearted, as the synopsis describes, is more appropriate a term because there's nothing thrilling at all in this movie. Once the Latin dance music starts during the first fight scene, it's all downhill from there. This movie is really for fans of Tony Leung and Ekin Cheng who want to see the actors do their own stunts. Kelly Chen serves only as background eye candy. Fans of Cecilia Cheung will be disappointed as she only makes a cameo appearance in this movie. As a warning for those who have added this title to your queue, the DVD Blockbuster sends looks like a blank DVD. But if you look at the very tiny writing around the disc's center, you'll see that it says "Tokyo Raiders" and will play on either side. Despite the Dolby Digital option, the audio was mostly stereo. As for extras, there's a "Making Of Featurette" (20:58 min) that is subtitled in English. Not recommended.

Not quite the martial arts action thriller it claims to be.. However, it was entertaining anyway. Picture this...trenchcoats, fight scenes to latin dance music, extendable cattle prods, motorized skateboard chase scene, martial arts moves like the ever-popular bellyflop and all of this is quite serious stuff apparently. Additionally, the viewer is not burdened with a plot until the last 1/3 of the movie, when you get most of it all at once in a flashback... needless to say it is a quality flick. ha ha
