Helen Mirren can't save this atrocious film. Muddy cinematography tacky costumes putrid script. The worst scenes are in the nightclub with god-awful chorus numbers VERY bad male singer screeches campy songs off tune caterwauling voice. The movie is 30 years old Helen Mirren was at the height of her youth. She is a beautiful lady but looks pug-ugly in this movie. Don't be fooled by the gorgeous DVD cover photo In the first 30 minutes, she takes 3 baths even if she is playing a prostitute a hooker isn't THAT dirty! No chemistry between Mirren & John Shea. Hooker says she is frugal saves money so she can buy a farm/antique shop, but blows money on luxuries like classical sculpture. She claims she is "expensive" but she works in a sleazy nightclub as a call girl. Lots of hard core sex scenes, more like a porno movie deserves X rating

Another great performance by Helen Mirren. My litmus test for good actresses is how broad of range in roles will they tackle --good characters, mean characters, seedy characters, funny characters, etc. Helen Mirren is at the top of my list due to her range and ability to pull off any portrayal, from Caligula's prostitute wife to the Queen of England. She made this movie good as she so often does.
