Part of the Famous Composers video series, this documentary tells the story of 19th century Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. This opera composer often modeled his work around his controversial life. A political person, Verdi's works often deal with the heated political issues and tensions of the time. Also, some of the tragic events of his personal life, including the death of his wife and two children, found their way into his works. His first successful opera was Nabucco and this success was followed with such internationally famous operas as La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Don Carlo, Otello, Aida, Falstaff, and Rigoletto.
