    If you want to watch these telemovies in the chronological order used by the Ellis Peters novels on which they are based, this is the order in which you will want to watch them: 01.) A Morbid Taste for Bones (Episode 203 = Book 1) ; 02.) One Corpse Too Many (Episode 101 = Book 2) ; 03.) Monk's Hood (Episode 104 = Book 3) ; 04.) Saint Peter's Fair (Episode 302 = Book 4) ; 05.) The Leper of Saint Giles (Episode 103 = Book 5) ; 06.) The Virgin in the Ice (Episode 201 = Book 6) ; 07.) The Sanctuary Sparrow (Episode 102 = Book 7) ; 08.) The Devil's Novice (Episode 202 = Book 8) ; 09.) The Pilgrim of Hate (Episode 403 = Book 10) ; 10.) The Raven in the Foregate (Episode 303 = Book 12) ; 11.) The Rose Rent (Episode 301 = Book 13) ; 12.) The Potter's Field (Episode 402 = Book 17) ; 13.) The Holy Thief (Episode 401 = Book 19)

I really like that this series has a good mystery, well-acted but without the graphic sex and trashy language. This one has the usual unpredictable twists and turns. I like that I can't figure it all out ahead of time.

Cadfael: The Rose Rent is one of the better episodes in this series. In this story he does not have the usual conflicts with his fellow monks or the sheriff's department. He actually gives a woman a potion to ease he husband's suffering. This was not what I would expect a monk to do. The woman who is young, beautiful and of great wealth from running a business has an endless supply of suitors following her husband's death. Even a young member of the religious order has feeling for her which results in his death. This is classic who done it since there are at least five other men who lust after the widow and may possibly be the murderer. The story does have an interesting twist regarding the boot print at the scene of the crime.
