A young African-American couple navigates the tricky paths of romance and athletics in this drama. Quincy McCall (Omar Epps) and Monica Wright (Sanaa Lathan) grew up in the same neighborhood and have known each other since childhood. As they grow into adulthood, they fall in love, but they also share another all-consuming passion: basketball. They've followed the game all their lives and have no small amount of talent on the court. As Quincy and Monica struggle to make their relationship work, they follow separate career paths though high school and college basketball and, they hope, into stardom in big-league professional ball. I loved this movie. One of my all time favorites. Such a great love story, and it really makes you think a lot about growing up and playing ball all the way through school.

This is the type of movie that makes you think back about growning up, what you love, and settle for. This is one of my favorite love story. Must see that will have you in love.

A great movie. Sanaa Lathan gives an amazing, emotional performance. Truly engaging look at two young people and how their talents shape their adult lives. Deals with ambition, family acceptance, gender bias, infidelity, and of course complications in romance. The soundtrack is a perfect companion and really defines the times. Alfre Woodard & Dennis Haysbert shine in their supporting roles.
